The American dream states that if you are a hard worker than you will be rewarded. However, an excerpt from Arthur Millers Play Death of a Salesman, shows a hard working man being demoted from middle class to lower class. Willy was a hard worker for many years, but all of a sudden he couldn't make enough money to live his life. If the American Dream says that all hard workers should be rewarded, how is it that Willy was rewarded with nothing valuable. All he got was disrespect and unfair treatment. People who work all their life shouldn't have to struggle when they are older. They earn their right to be taken care of because they paid their dues when they were working.

The American Dream says that if you work hard that you will be rewarded. Willy Loman’s work for a long time and was not rewarded with anything he was just fired in the “Death of a Salesman” By, Arthur Miller. Willy pleaded for a lower income for example “If I had forty dollars a week” (159). Willy was left with nothing in the end, he was fired. Willy was also discriminated for his age by his boss Howard for example “I don’t want you to represent us” (160).

In "Death of a Salesman" Arthur Miller dicusses ageisium and classisum and how it affects the work inviorment. Ageisium is believed that when a man/woman is to old they should no longer work but retire instead. Classisum depending on how well of someone might be shows how educated and/or healthy one is. But thats not true if some one lives in proverty or is of old age it can sometimes be a motivation to work harder and show what he or she is capable of.

In the play "Death of a Salesman" by Arthur Miller he portrays the struggle of a salesman Willy who fights for his job as a salesman. Willy stated "Your father came to me and askes he what I thought of the name Howard" (157). That is an example of appealing to the emosions of the boss to make him feel simpathy towards fireing him. the play shows examples of what can happen in the real world and how even if somone is successful for a while, it won't always be that way.

According to the Untited States, the American Dream is were an American achieves its full pontential. Sadly in Thomas miller's "Death of a Saleman" that was not the case because he work all his life yet he was being fired because of his age. His way of getting the American Dream was surely unfair. Howard, the boss wants to secure his business and does not want na old guy in his bisness,"I think you need a good long rest, willy" (160). There is a problem of people who work hard and are not compesate as well.

In American Dream, Arthur Miller in a play titled “From Death of a Salesman” discusses how ageism within the American Dream. Miller uses to two characters Willy and Howard; therefore, Willy is a salesman and his young boss is Howard. Willy is looking for a better job but Howard shows ageism against Willy when Willy is looking for a better job. When Howard states “I think you need a good long rest, Willy” which is showing ageism against him. Also, Howard is calling Willy “kid” through the play as well.
