The section would want to distance its self from is discrimination. Women do not want to be discriminated by men and shouldn't be, women are just as equal as men. Discrimination should be provoked because men are not the only ones doing work.

Betty Friedan's article "The Now Organization for Women's 1966 Statement of Purpose" explains how woman wish for a new proposal for equality among men and women in America. They wish to be distanced from the discrimination of being a women. She argues how men and women are both human and should be treated the same. Friedan doesn't believe a man should support the family; she wants to be distanced from that assumption.

In the passage "NOW 1966 Statement of Purpose" by Betty Friedan's talks about what women need and how they are unable to express them selvs because they are being oppressed. Acrivists try to become more indipendent. Betty Fredan stared "we reject the current assumption that a man must carry the sole burden of supporting himself" (115). Ths is something that many woman might want to distance theselvs frome because they too like to be taken care of by their spouses. The role of the husband is to provide care to the family and the role of the wife is to fake cear of the house and children.

How many women worked out side of homes was much less then it is now. Also child care they didnt have it then so women had to stay home but now we have child care every where for women to work. Only men haveing the had labor jubs back then is nomore women have just as equal jobs as men do.

In American Dream, Betty Friedan discusses in The National Organization for Women’s 1966 Statement of Purpose about the women’s right and freedom within themselves. In today it was change in different way of looking towards women like “Today, women earn only in three of the B.A.’s and M.A.’s granted, and one in ten of the Ph.D.’s “ (114). Therefore, in their time, was different but now in this today there are more women going for education to receive a career in life.

In “The National Organization for Woman’s 1966 Statement of Purpose” there are some things said about childcare that would be taken to great offence. “True equality of opportunity and freedom of choice for woman requires such practical, and possible innovations as a nationwide network of childcare centers, which will make it unnecessary for woman to retire completely from society until their children are grown, and chosen to care for their children full-time…” (115). Meaning that for woman to have chosen to be equal it means to leave their children. That being a mother should be their full-time job.
