Yan states that Americans dont except people who are not citizens. Citizens say that imagrents are taking all the job. But if we really think about it imagrants take the job that noone else really wants and they only do it to try and make a decent living to provide for their family back home. Everyone should be aloud to live the American Dream.

Yan Phou Lee believes that America use immigrates as scapegoats when it comes to their jobs being taken. He believes that immigrates should be able to obtain the same rights and privileges as Americans. This relates to the current controversy today, because it’s said that the Mexicans are taking the white men’s jobs today.

Yan Phou Lee argues that it is not the Chinese fault for American failure. The Americans are scapegoating the Chinese and saying that they are taking all the jobs so that the Americans don't have anywhere to work. Where I think that the Americans could find jobs if they were to try and work for it like the Chinese. The Americans solution is to send the Chinese back to their homelands just they can find a new scapegoat to blame no work on.

In American Dream, Yan Phou Lee discusses about “Yellow Peril” how Chinese immigrants were forced in camps by Americans. But, Yan Phou Lee had several counterarguments against these problems because he wanted to attend a university to get education within his life. Therefore, Ya Phou Lee provides an example about why Americans want Chinese immigrants out of their country so, they could have more money within themselves in Graduating Address at Yale College, 1887: “First, it is assumed that the work to be done and fund for labor’s remuneration are fixed quantities, and that if the Chinese are employed so much will be taken from other laborers. It is sufficient to relay that no economist holds that view” (81). The Americans are thinking that Chinese are going all the jobs and the Americans are scared that there would be no more jobs for them. Therefore, the American are forcing the Chinese immigrants to camp to save money for themselves.

In the speech "Graduating Address at Yale College" by Yan Phou Lee's he stresses the point that the Chinese have done nothing wrong to the Americans and that the Americans are the ones who are oppressing them. Yan Phou Lee belives that america has pased unjust laws to exclude the chinese from its country. All in all Phou Lee strides to comfirt his Chinese family members.

In Yan Phou Lee’s article “Graduating Address at Yale College, 1887” he asserts that the white men are simply using scapegoats for their failure. Lee explains how once one race is removed, the white men turn toward another “weak” race. However, in today’s society many people continue to blame immigrants for the declining of the economy and taking jobs. When in fact, immigrants do jobs that legal citizens do not wish to tackle.
